The most successful project of the Army of the Republic of Macedonia (ARM) is its professionalism, while its re-evaluation, revision or any changes in times when its benefits are clearly visible would mean giving up on the reform process and a step back from its defined formation and the Republic of Macedonia’s defence concept, Defence Minister Fatmir Besimi said on Thursday at the conference “ARM 1992-2012: Establishment, Development, Challenges”, organised by the Association of Veterans and Reservists in Defence and Security Sectors. NATO and EU membership is a strong motivating factor for the comprehensive security reforms in the Republic of Macedonia, which is prepared to assume the obligations and responsibilities as a member of the Alliance, he underlined. According to the Chief of ARM’s General Staff, Major General Goranco Koteski, ARM’s 20-year development has proved more than successful in all areas of its operations.
