| President Ivanov on Appointment of Xhaferi as Defence Minister |
| Wednesday, 06 March 2013 09:11 |
![]() “I have already stated my stance once – that the memories are still fresh of what was happening in Macedonia in 2001 and many wounds have not healed from that conflict. That’s why the topic is sensitive and his selection caused such reactions,” the President of the Republic of Macedonia and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Gjorge Ivanov, said in response to the requests by journalists to comment on the appointment of Talat Xhaferi as Defence Minister and the protests staged as a reaction to the decision. “As Supreme Commander, I am telling everyone who is in and outside ARM that they should not worry about the Army. My term has seen the replacement of three ministers but the Army remained what it is – always with the highest marks and an example how to fulfil all obligations in countries where we are invited,” Ivanov said.
