Reactions to Events During Sunday’s Protest

SDSM said on Monday it condemned the violence that had occurred the previous day during the protests outside Parliament, the attacks on journalists, camera operators and police officers that had been trying to prevent people from storming Parliament. As the party added, though every person has a right to protest and express their stand, Sunday saw hate speech, calls for violence, insults and provocations towards citizens, journalists, different ethnic communities. On the other hand, VMRO-DPMNE considers that Sunday’s events are a scenario devised by the government to prevent, as it was pointed out, the Macedonians’ democratic defiance. “In fact, Zoran Zaev wishes for a new 27 April so that he can first declare himself a victim, then an alleged saviour and in the end accuse VMRO-DPMNE,” VMRO-DPMNE’s Dimitar Dimovski stated.
