A roundtable on revision of financing of political parties and election campaign was held on Thursday. According to the Head of the EU Delegation to Macedonia, Ambassador Samuel Zbogar, parties need to be transparent over how they are financed and who their donors are. As he added, illegal financing represented a great risk from the standpoint of corruption. The President of the State Election Commission (SEC), Oliver Derkoski, expects the latest legal changes to make parties more transparent. “The SEC will allow for the whole process to be additionally more open for the public,” he noted. LDP leader and MP Goran Milevski considers that the increase of the amount parties receive from the budget will reduce corruption and increase transparency.
