Public debate on Security Service Law

One of the main remarks presented by experts at a debate held on Monday on the new Security Service Law was that the PM will have unlimited power in the Security Service Coordination Council. They consider that the Council should include the President and Parliament Speaker.  Remarks were also presented about the way in which the internal control would be regulated, as well as about the way in which the wire-tapping activities would be carried out. Vane Cvetanov of the Green Magnifier citizens’ association called for evaluation of employees in the security service sector. Some experts underlined the importance of the staff that will be selected to work in the sector to being also highly professional.
