Around three months after the tragedy, on Friday (13 June), the Prosecutor’s Office will press charges over the Kocani fire, Sitel has reported. In the investigation, 47 persons have been prosecuted for grave crimes against general safety.
At the same time, the separate investigation against 14 police officers has continued.
On Thursday, PM Hristijan Mickoski said the Office had a free hand, adding that he would not respond to the opposition’s accusations because that might be interpreted as pressure on judicial organs.
The same day, SDSM, nonetheless, continued its allegations, stressing again the government was protecting the “real culprits”.
Also on Thursday, another 13 police officers from Kocani and Stip were arrested, Telma reported, adding that they had been in office or on duty on the night of the fire. Prosecutors will present more information on Friday (13 June).
