The fire in Trubarevo has been fully put out, while the entire burned-down area has been buried up with sand and dirt, Protection and Rescue Directorate Director Stojance Angelov said on Monday.
There was smoke in the morning at several locations, but action was taken immediately by using a special foam and by further burying up with dirt and sand. Skopje firefighters are still at the scene to intervene if necessary. When it comes to the Drisla landfill, Angelov stated that it, too, had seen a drastic improvement.
He was quoted by Sitel at 2 pm as saying that he expected the place from which smoke had been coming out to be fully buried up that afternoon. Angelov also expressed gratitude to the Skopje Firefighting Brigade and all others that had been involved in the activities to put out the fires.
