The Ministry of Interior has filed criminal charges against former Strumica Mayor Kostadin Kostadinov and 5 other entities, all suspected of abuse of office in processes for public procurements on behalf of the Municipality of Strumica.
According to the Interior Ministry, Kostadinov authorized G.P. for conducting a public procurement of electronic buses worth around 7 million euros, even though he did not have the required qualifications. They are also suspected of altering the tender documents in order to suit the specifications of the procured buses.
Kostadinov denied the charges, claiming that all legal procedures were respected and implemented with the procurement, and said that he and the other suspects remain available for cooperation with the authorities over this case.
