Bogojeski Faces More Backlash Over Views on Women, Responds to Criticism

Radio Lider editor Ljupcho Zlatev has publicly appealed to the General Mihailo Apostolski Military Academy to reconsider the position of university professor Petar Bogojeski, following his statements regarding women, domestic violence, and the need for “male supervision” during a debate show on Alfa.

Bogojeski, who is also the leader of Macedonian Concept, claimed during the debate that a husband’s reaction following his wife’s infidelity constituted the protection of his dignity rather than violence. He also stated that feminism had driven women to reject any “male supervision”.

Bogojeski was fiercely criticized by SDSM MP Slavjanka Petrovska, too, while his comments were condemned by the Media Agency and the Network for Protection against Discrimination. Following the reactions, Bogojeski stated that regarding his statement on male control over women, he stood by the position that every woman needed male support, and every man needed female care.

“The traditional family is what will save the nation”, he added.
