According to Branko Azeski, president of Macedonian Chamber of Commerce (SKM), the full repayment of the debts by the government towards the companies is an expected move.
“We must endure and therefore any aid even the slightest aid from the government or the international financial structures have great significance for the companies. Our business has been dragged to the edge of subsistence and we must keep it at this level so as it wouldn’t go below because these implications will then be very difficult,” Azeski said. According to him, the forecasts of the international institutions been met this year and the growth in the four countries, the key partners of Macedonia - Germany, Italy, Bulgaria and Greece will be very problematic, at zero or below. “We do not expect any increase in the demand for our products and therefore we have redirected our activity to providing alternative markets in the countries of the Caucasus, the Middle East and North Africa. This process will take time for sure in the next few years. We hope that by 2015 the impacts of the crisis that are plaguing Europe will reduce,” Azeski said. He informed that every day they were in contact with the Government seeking solutions in order to avoid entering a serious recession that will derail the country and then the lost will not be easily made up
