UK company Ascend Capital, which is also the owner of Active Group with a global network of call centre in Europe and Africa, plans to open a plant in Macedonia.
The director of the Agency for Foreign Investments and Export Promotion, Visar Fida and company’s chief executive Justin Drummond announced this at a press conference. “Ascend Capital will open a call centre for direct marketing and regional sales of environment friendly cleaning products, investment worth several hundred thousands of euros. In the period between 12 and 18 months the British company plans to hire 100 to 150 young people from Macedonia with the knowledge of regional languages,” Fida said. The company is considering the possibility of investing in the hotel industry with an investment of a few million euros, but they are also interested in investing in real estate and mineral resources. “The initial investment will be an excellent platform for expanding our investment in Macedonia,” Drummond said. Among the main reasons for their decision to invest in Macedonia are the excellent business climate in the country, the stable macroeconomic policy, the cost of labour and assistance from the Agency for Foreign Investments and the office in the UK. The agency, moreover, said they await another British company to invest in the tech sector, providing 400 new jobs.
