Friday, 12 January 2018 10:41

The Western Balkans’ European perspective and the Eastern Partnership of the EU were the topics at Thursday’s second meeting of the European External Action Service (EEAS), with the political directors of the Western Balkan countries (WB6). Foreign Ministry State Secretary Viktor Dimovski hosted the meeting, while Deputy EEAS Sec Gen Jean-Christophe Belliard led the EEEAS. The meeting also saw discussions on the EU’s Common Foreign and Security Policy, as well as on the current situation and developments in the region and beyond. Dimovski welcomed the all-encompassing commitment in both Macedonia and the wider region so far. In that regard, he stated that he expected the commitment to be crowned with a final process of the integration of the Balkans into the Union. He also reaffirmed the government’s concrete steps in the past year at an internal and foreign-policy level and informed about the coming activities in 2018 for the country’s integration into the EU. Dimovski reaffirmed also the pledge for adjustment to the Common Foreign and Security Policy, as well as the interest for integration of the Macedonian energy sector into the regional and European market.
