The Special Anti-Terrorist Unit at the Interior Ministry, also known as Tiger unit, observed on Saturday the 40th anniversary since its establishment. The ceremony for observation of the jubilee was attended by PM Zoran Zaev, First Deputy PM Artan Grubi, Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski and Defence Minister Radmila Sekerinska, who during the ceremony laid wreaths of flowers at the memorial plaque dedicated to the members of the unit that died during the armed conflict in Macedonia in 2001. “I am convinced that the reorganised Tiger unit will continue the 40-year period with high motivation and top organisation along with all other segments of the security system which guarantees the peace and stability of the citizens and protection of the constitutional order,” Zaev said in his address. Interior Minister Spasovski said that his jubilee is very significant for two reasons. “First is the 40th jubilee of this very professional unit, and then the fact that we modernise this unite in accordance with the standards of NATO and EU, including the renaming of the unit from Unit for Special Assignments into a Special Anti-terrorist Unit,” Spasovski said.
