78 heads of SDSM municipal Organisations dismissed by Zaev

On Thursday, PM and SDSM leader Zoran Zaev said he had dismissed all 78 heads of the party’s municipal organisations. “I would like to thank all of them for their activity, work, serving to citizens, as representatives at a local level at the biggest ruling party,” he said, urging them to once again apply within the frameworks of the next competition that, as he said, will be published next week. The reactions to the decision from the opposition parties, especially those from the Albanian bloc, are that the so-called broom process is a party, not state, one. Alliance for Albanians leader Ziadin Sela said the following day that he wouldn’t event comment on intra-party developments because a party leader had the legitimate right to make changes. “The changes at SDSM will have consequences within the party, not in terms of improving standards and good governance of the country. If Zaev makes in the next several days some decision in the capacity of PM, that would be worthy of a comment,” he stated. BESA leader Bilall Kasami, too, considers that the Government has failed to implement the key projects promised by it in the field of internal policy, economy and development. “Time will show how much Zaev will be able to carry out the broom process not only in his party, but also among the coalition partners,” he noted. Both Zaev and parties from the Albanian bloc expect the leader of DUI, Ali Ahmeti, too, to get involved in the broom process. Commenting on the situation, VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski says that “the true broom is needed for those in whose hands it is in”. In that regard, he added that Zaev had failed to deliver on his promises and traded away the identity of both the country and the nation.
