Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi and MPs held a meeting on Tuesday with France’s Laurence Boone, Minister of State for Europe, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, German Minister for Europe Anna Luehrmann, and Poland’s Minister for the EU, Szymon Szynkowski vel Sek.
The country is committed to achieving the strategic goal of EU membership, but there is currently no majority in Parliament for the constitutional changes, Xhaferi said. As the three Ministers pointed out, since there will be elections at an EU level in 2024, it would be best for the changes to be made by the end of this year.
According to VMRO-DPMNE’s Antonio Milososki, his party’s Parliamentary Group reiterated its stand, that is, support for EU membership, but opposition to “blackmails by Bulgaria”.
