The Bulgarian PM Boyko Borissov said at a press conference in Sofia that he and the Bulgarian Defence Minister Krasimir Karakachanov support the integration of Macedonia in NATO and the EU. “When it comes to the integration of North Macedonia and Albania in the EU, I and Karakachanov are on same terms; Both countries should become EU member-states. Bulgaria is to chair the Berlin Process soon, and this offers us a perspective for demonstration of good-neighbourliness. North Macedonia’s future is within the EU and they should not gamble with this chance. However, we do not want to be remembered in history as the only country that blocked North Macedonia’s integration in the EU. We have 71 instruments at our disposal in the opening of the chapters of the membership talks between EU and North Macedonia. Skopje should not play with history and the past, and should focus on the future,” Borissov said.
