Borrell: North Macedonia and Albania Will Not Be Decoupled

EU High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell stated during the Meeting of EU Foreign Ministers that they reached an agreement that there are no intentions for decoupling of Macedonia and Albania in the EU accession process. “For the first time after 2 years, the Western Balkans will once more be prioritised at the meeting of foreign affairs minister of EU. We agreed that we want to accelerate the process for start of the accession negotiations with Albania and North Macedonia, and we do not intend to decouple the two countries in the process. We encourage both Skopje and Sofia to continue with the efforts for finding solutions for their bilateral issues so that the EU accession process is unblocked,” Borrell said.
