BPPO Won’t Prosecute Doctors Who Treated Jana Hristovska

The Bitola-based Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office (BPPO) decided to press no charges
against the doctors in the Bitola hospital that treated Jana Hristovska (6), who passed
away on 22 March 2023 after being rushed to the hospital with fever and cold symptoms.
From BPPO they state that they did not find any indications or elements of doctor’s error
or negligence in the entire case, in accordance with Article 207 from the Criminal Code
of North Macedonia. They also add that all materials will be provided to the family of
Jana so they can conduct an independent investigation if they want to. The forensic
medicine report that was published on Tuesday stated that Jana died as a result of cardiac
arrest provoked by pneumonia. In the meantime, a new protest against the healthcare
system has been announced to take place in Bitola on Thursday 22 June around 07:00
pm.
