Bulgarian MEP Kyuchyuk not in Favour of Decoupling

A solution to lift the Bulgarian veto for Skopje and Tirana is parallel integration inside the Union and resumption of enlargement. That was Bulgarian MEP Ilhan Kyuchyuk’s message at a debate “Liberals on the Future of Europe – from Conference to EU Reform” in Sofia. “If we don’t succeed, Europe will come down,” the European Parliament’s Rapporteur on North Macedonia added. Kyuchyuk is against the idea for decoupling. He asked what kind of moral image Bulgaria would have internationally if it allowed that. Bulgarian Deputy Parliament Speaker Kristian Vigenin, however, stated that Bulgaria’s demands had not been fulfilled. “Today, we have no reason to say that the veto should be lifted. If nothing happens, there is no chance of us lifting the veto,” he stated.
