Cabinet: Pendarovski Welcomes French EU Presidency’s Proactive Approach

President Stevo Pendarovski welcomes the French EU Presidency’s proactive approach, the President’s Cabinet said on Wednesday, answering a question whether a new French proposal was on the table to solve the Skopje-Sofia dispute. As it was added, Pendarovski hopes it could contribute to a solution being found that would help North Macedonia start more swiftly membership negotiations with the EU. Asked about the potential inclusion of the Bulgarian proposals in the negotiating framework of the EU, the President’s stand is that the final text and adoption of the negotiating framework for any country is a process which requires full consensus among EU members, while the basis on which the framework itself is determined is the EU acquis, where rules and practice exists about what can and cannot be part of the framework.
