Dameva Dismissed as Judicial Council President after Vote by Show of Hands

With seven votes in favour, Vesna Dameva has been dismissed as Judicial Council President, Deputy President Selim Ademi concluded at Wednesday’s session. The session was held in a tense atmosphere. After Dameva had refused an item not part of the agenda to be voted on, the Council’s Deputy President decided on a vote by a show of hands. Seven members supported Ademi, who took over the running of the session even though she was present. Dameva said that if the decision was made legal, certain people from politics would be satisfied. “This decision is illegal. However, somebody’s wishes should be fulfilled,” Dameva stated. According to her, the Council has entered anarchy. “Even though I am present, I’ve been deprived of my right to speak,” she stressed.
