In the frames of her visit to Istanbul, Defence Minister Slavjanka Petrovska met on Wednesday with her counterpart from Turkiye, Yasar Guler.
They talked about the defence relations between the two countries, security in the Balkans, and solidification of the Alliance’s collective security. As Petrovska said, the defence cooperation between North Macedonia and Turkiye has enabled the former to have a better, more equipped, and stronger Army. Regarding the procurement of new artillery systems for the Army from renowned companies based in Turkiye, she said they would solidify North Macedonia’s collective security in NATO.
Petrovska discussed also Turkiye’s support for equipping and modernising the Army, which has so far amounted to around 30 million dollars. According to Minister Guler, his country highly appreciates cooperation with North Macedonia in the field of defence. As he added, it remains committed to supporting the development of North Macedonia’s Army as an army of a friendly country and as a country that is an ally.
