Deputy PM for European Affairs Nikola Dimitrov participated on Friday morning at the meeting with EU Enlargement Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi. Counterparts from the region and he exchanged information about the situation and readiness for procurement of coronavirus vaccines, as well as about the plans for vaccination of priority groups. According to the Commissioner, the European Commission is trying to ensure an arrival of the vaccines in Western Balkan countries simultaneously with their distribution in EU members. As he added, for the specific needs of each country in the region, proper financial support from the EU will be provided. Dimitrov, on his part, said the Union’s initiative was of exceptional importance in the period when the procurement represented a top priority. As he added, Skopje is actively working on the Vaccination Plan, based on EU recommendations, which will define priority groups on the basis of multiple criteria.
