Macedonia’s NATO Accession Protocol will enter Spain’s Parliament on Thursday. At their meeting in Madrid on Wednesday, Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov and Spanish counterpart Arancha Gonzalez Laya in Madrid talked about the positive developments on Macedonia’s road to membership in the organisation. They talked about Macedonia’s road to EU membership as well. According to Dimitrov, though Macedonia is currently not ready to be an EU member, it is prepared for a start of the negotiations process. He urged Spain to express support for negotiations after the report that will be published in the first week of March. The Spanish Minister said her country would support a start of negotiations at the European Council next month. The issue had been discussed also at the meeting between Juan Gonzalez-Barba, Spanish State Secretary for the EU, and Amelie de Montchalin, State Secretary for European Affairs at the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs.
