EC to Relax Export Regulations for Medical Equipment for Western Balkans

After an initiative started by Macedonian Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov, and supported by all foreign ministers of the countries from the West Balkans, the European Commission (EC) started negotiations with its member-states for abolishment of restrictions for export of medical equipment towards the Western Balkans amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Namely, the new regulations will only require special permits for export of medical face masks, while all other types of medical equipment will be exported from EU to the Western Balkans without any specific conditions. In the spirit of international solidarity, the new regulation will oblige EU member-states to expressly process the requests for issuing permits for export of medical equipment and materials.
