On Friday, the US Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, Gabriel Escobar, who’s also the US Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, held a meeting in Skopje with Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani.
They discussed current political developments and the need to continue the EU negotiations process by making the constitutional changes, the Foreign Ministry pointed out in the press-release. The blocked EU integration process, Osmani noted, costs the country one billion euros every year in financial support from the EU.
The same day, Escobar also met with Justice Minister Krenar Lloga. US support for North Macedonia’s progress on the EU path was discussed at that meeting too.
