EU Path: Latest Domestic Reactions

Deputy PM for European Affairs Bojan Maricic is more optimistic than Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani when it comes to Bulgaria’s stand on Skopje’s EU path.

As he said on Monday, he believes that after the adoption of the constitutional changes, nobody, not even Bulgaria, will have the credibility to block North Macedonia’s EU integration. He’s adamant that there are talks with everyone over the constitutional changes process. In his view, there is still time until the end of the year regarding the process.

Though SDSM has been accusing VMRO-DPMNE of blocking EU membership, the opposition from the ethnic Albanian bloc will not support the constitutional changes if their demands to change the so-called 20% wording regarding Albanian language and to prevent the statute of limitations from expiring in cases concerning corruption are not met.

DUI’s stand is that blockades, blackmails, and even leaving Parliament benefit nobody.
