Executive Board of VMRO-DPMNE Accepts Initiative for Referendum

The executive board of VMRO-DPMNE held a meeting on Thursday evening, at which they accepted the initiative of their leader Hristijan Mickoski for starting procedures for a referendum over the French proposal for accession of North Macedonia in the EU. “In the period to come, our party will conduct broad consultations with legal experts in the field of constitutional law in order to determine the formulation of the referendum and the question the citizens will express their opinion over. We are conducting this process in order to prevent the processes of assimilation and compromising of the Macedonian language and identity with the resolutions from the bilateral protocol official Skopje and Sofia signed, which has now become part of the EU accession talks in form of conditions for official Skopje. The government led by SDSM lies to the people that Skopje started the accession talks with the EU, when in fact only Albanian started them. All MPs from VMRO-DPMNE remain on their positions that they will never support constitutional changes under these conditions,” said Secretary General of VMRO-DPMNE Gjorgija Sajkoski.
