Finnish FM Haavisto meets Dimitrov and Zaev during Visit to Skopje

On Wednesday, Finland’s FM, Pekka Haavisto, held a meeting in Skopje with counterpart Nikola Dimitrov. He said that his country’s EU Presidency should be remembered for a decision on a start of membership negotiations for Macedonia. “We know that the German Bundestag made a positive decision and we have to wait until all EU Member States complete their position on enlargement,” he noted. According to Dimitrov, though he is aware that the situation in the country won’t change overnight after a start of negotiations, definitely, once and for all, the path towards the EU will be paved, while the benefits of reforms and funds will be felt by citizens, too.  The same day, the Finnish FM met with PM Zoran Zaev, who was accompanied by Deputy PM for European Affairs Bujar Osmani, as well. At that meeting, too, Finland’s strong support for a positive decision on Macedonia in October was expressed.
