Foreign Affairs Minister Bujar Osmani paid an official visit to Spain on Thursday, where he held meetings with Director for EU and Advisor to PM Pedro Sanchez, Maria Aurora Mejia Errasquin, Spanish Foreign Affairs Minister Arancha Gonzales Laya and President of the Committee on Foreign Affairs at the Spanish Senate Antonio Gutierrez Limones. Osmani was welcomed in Madrid by Errasquin, with whom he discussed the Spanish support for the processes of integration of Macedonia in NATO and EU, and introduced her to the reforms implemented or under implementation at the moment in Macedonia. The interlocutors also discussed relations between the countries in the Western Balkans, focusing on political and good neighbourly relations, as well as about possibilities for improvement of the bilateral cooperation between Macedonia and Spain. At the meeting with Spanish FM Laya, Osmani thanked for the ratification of the NATO Accession protocol for Macedonia by the Spanish Senate. “I am especially grateful for this, because this made you to organise an online vote for the first time in your Senate. I am very glad that we are to meet once more at the upcoming meeting of NATO FMs in Brussels,” Osmani said. Osmani and Laya also discussed the processes for EU-integration of Macedonia, welcoming the progress realised by Macedonia so far. Osmani and Laya also signed a memorandum for understanding and cooperation between the Foreign Affairs Ministries of both countries in the field of diplomatic schools and trainings. Osmani concluded his visit to Spain with a meeting with President of the Committee on Foreign Affairs at the Spanish Senate Limones, with whom he discussed the processes for integration in the EU of Macedonia, and possibilities for greater cooperation between Spain and Macedonia in numerous fields.
