Foreign Minister Osmani Meets Belgian and Portuguese Ambassadors

On Monday, Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani met Belgium’s Ambassador, resident in Sofia, Frederic Meurice, and Portugal’s Ambassador, resident in Belgrade, Maria Virgínia Mendes da Silva Pina. North Macedonia’s EU perspective was discussed, as were the opportunities to promote in the period ahead, considering the EU’s June Summits. At the meeting with the Portuguese Ambassador, the efforts and engagement so far on the integration path were discussed. Bilateral relations have over the past period been built on the basis of close friendly relations and solid level of mutual cooperation in multiple areas, it was highlighted. At the meeting with Meurice, it was highlighted that Belgium’s support was expected in the period ahead for the intergovernmental conference to be held and for the membership talks with the EU to start. Regarding the bilateral relations, they were assessed as excellent and built on the basis of shared strategic interests. The meetings were used to exchange views also on current regional developments and other types of cooperation.
