Foreign Minister Osmani Participates in ECFR-Organised Discussion

On Tuesday, Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani took part in a discussion organised by the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR), titled “How to Convince the European Public to Enlarge the EU”.

The event saw a discussion on new polling data of six EU members in the enlargement debate (Germany, France, Denmark, Austria, Poland, and Romania) and, consequently, what voters think about the geopolitical imperative of EU enlargement. Commenting on the data, Osmani called on EU leaders and candidate countries to, with joint efforts, convince citizens and the broader EU public about their own interest in the integration of future members.

Also, he discussed public opinion research results in North Macedonia, stressing that the long-lasting EU process and previous conditions of bilateral nature had led to a downward trend of support by citizens for integration. The Minister once again discussed the so-called greater integration before membership concept.
