On Monday, French President Emmanuel Macron criticised the absence of a deal within the frameworks of the EU on the top posts and once again urged institutional reforms. He stated that procedures had to be simplified “so that we are faster, stronger and progress together.” In that regard, the French President stated that he was sceptical about the stories that the EU’s future was in its enlargement, in a situation in which “we’re seeing that the 28 of us” couldn’t reach a deal. “I will refuse any kind of enlargement before a deep reform of our institutional functioning,” Macron stressed.
