EU Ambassador to Macedonia David Geer said at a press conference in Tetovo that Macedonia and Bulgaria should double the efforts for resolving the bilateral issues that prevent the integration of Macedonia in the EU. “I understand the frustration due to the disrespect of the accession talks with your country, but in such circumstances, both countries should double the efforts they invest in the process to reach mutually acceptable solution. Besides this, the authorities need to focus more on the implementation of reforms, and that way you will achieve your final goal much faster,” Geer said. While in Tetovo, Geer held a meeting with DUI leader Ali Ahmeti, at which they discussed the relations between Macedonia and Bulgaria, with Ahmeti saying that Skopje is not far from agreement with Sofia, and that both sides need to stick to the obligations they accepted and overcome their differences as soon as possible, because according to him, good neighbourly relations are important for securing good future for the country.
