The German Ambassador to Macedonia Thomas Gerberich called upon the government and the opposition in Macedonia to unite their efforts for progress of the country in the days before the upcoming meeting of the European Council, which is to decide about determining a date for start of membership negotiations with Macedonia. “North Macedonia is about to face a very important decision in a couple of days. The German Bundestag has already provided its approval for start of the membership negotiations with North Macedonia, and I am certain that the EU will determine a date for start of the membership negotiations this October. Now it is up for the government and the opposition to work together on the matters important for solidifying North Macedonia’s position for start of membership talks with the EU. North Macedonia has lot of potentials, and Germany is pleased to cooperate with you in the development and proper usage of those potentials,” Gerberich said at the special reception at the German Embassy on occasion the German Day of National Unity, which was attended by numerous high-profile guests of the everyday political life in Macedonia.
