German Chancellor Scholz Visits Skopje

Friendly tones, acknowledgement of the achievement, a short comment on the economic cooperation. These messages sent by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz during the visit to Skopje were just additional content to the main topic, that is, whether there be a start of EU membership talks for North Macedonia. As Scholz repeated several times, a promise was made to the Western Balkans, especially to North Macedonia, while the EU must deliver. The host, PM Dimitar Kovacevski stated that though Skopje had done everything necessary, expectations, as had been the case in the past, shouldn’t be raised because enlargement and the closest candidates were being held hostage by an EU member. The PM declined to comment on the political developments in Bulgaria. Once there is a mutually acceptable deal, it will be revealed.
