Greek Opposition Leader Criticises Government over Name Deal

Greek opposition leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis reiterated the position that the Prespa deal is negative for Greece and it represents ‘political defeat for FM Nikos Kotzias and PM Alexis Tsipras. In his address at the meeting in Thessaloniki with representatives of organisations of producers and scientific organisations he levelled fierce criticism at the government about the economy and the name issue. “In addition to cloud of taxes there is another cloud hanging over Northern Greece and that is the cloud related to the Skopje issue,” said Mitsotakis. According to him, the agreement insults all Greeks who are forced to concede the Macedonian language and nationality i.e. the Macedonian identity to their neighbours.
