Ilinden Uprising Day marked Throughout Macedonia

“There’s no better way for us to repay our heroes except by continuing their brave deeds, effectuated in the Krusevo Manifesto and in the ASNOM’s decisions,” PM Zoran Zaev at Friday’s ceremony at Meckin Kamen to mark Ilinden Uprising Day. According to him, the first Ilinden, that is, the one in 1903, is a symbol of the joint struggle for a free and autonomous Macedonia, while the second, that is, the one in 1945, symbolises victory against fascism. As the PM added, Meckin Kamen shouldn’t be a stumbling block, but rather a cornerstone of reconciliation, togetherness and understanding. “We continue with policies to overcome divisions,” the PM noted. The event was attended by many guests, including ambassadors and representatives of political parties. On the same occasion, PS Talat Xhaferi delivered an address in Pelince. “We have a joint country and all of us are responsible for keeping and developing it, for us and for future generations,” he said. President Stevo Pendarovski and the President of the Main Board of Fighters from the National Liberation and Anti-fascist War of Macedonia delivered an address at a ceremony held at Villa Vodno. VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski attended the ceremony to mark the holiday in the village of Tasmarunista, located in the Struga region. “VMRO is the foundation of Ilinden, an integral part of that struggle for freedom,” he said. In his speech, the VMRO-DPMNE leader levelled fierce accusations at the PM Zoran Zaev. “The system is rotten, corrupt and doesn’t exist for citizens,” Mickoski stressed. Congratulatory messages on the occasion of the holiday were sent by, among others, FM Nikola Dimitrov, SDSM, VMRO-DPMNE and former PM Nikola Gruevski.
