Ilovica and Grubi Car Cases – Focal Points at Session for Parliamentary Questions

At the session for parliamentary questions, held on Thursday, VMRO-DPMNE MPs asked why the decision to merge the concessions for the Ilovica-Stuka mines hadn’t been annulled so far and why the country was putting itself at risk of paying millions as a result of arbitration disputes. The Government has failed to solve the problem for seven years, they added.

PM Dimitar Kovacevski and Economy Minister Kreshnik Bekteshi, in response, said those responsible were in fact former officials from VMRO-DPMNE, who had given positive opinions and signed off on the decisions on the concessions.

VMRO- DPMNE also asked for answers over the case concerning the fire of the vehicle used by First Deputy PM Artan Grubi. MP Dragan Kovacki called Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski and Chief Public Prosecutor Ljubomir Joveski out, saying they had to explain why Grubi was not held to account at all over the illegal flashers on the vehicle. In response to VMRO-DPMNE’s stand that he’s the person most responsible for the low trust of citizens in the Prosecutor’s Office, Joveski said that the polls showing the low level presented just a perception. “Personally, I am satisfied with the institution’s efficiency,” he stressed.
