Joveski Comments on Developments Related to Prosecutor’s Offices

A prosecutor from Skopje worked unprofessionally and unconscientiously, that is, they took no action on multiple cases. In the case, criminal accountability hasn’t been established, while the prosecutor withdrew from the position. Chief Public Prosecutor Ljubomir Joveski told journalists on Tuesday that the Public Prosecutor’s Office had initiated five disciplinary procedures against prosecutors this year. According to him, the work of each prosecutor would be evaluated from an individual, quality, and quantity standpoint. Joveski added that there were cases which had seen no proper action in the frames of other prosecutor’s offices, too. This year, offices have taken action against over 25,000 adult perpetrators of crime. Joveski described 2020 as a difficult year for everyone, prosecutors included, adding that crime hadn’t stopped even during the pandemic.
