Juncker: Negative decision of EU for North Macedonia, Albania is Shameful

The outgoing President of the European Commission (EC) Jean-Claude Juncker writes in his last political comment from the position of EC President for “Politico” that it would be rather shameful for EU to not start the membership negotiations with Macedonia and Albania. “If the strength of Europe lies within the partnership, then our weakness lies within the fact that we did not keep our promises, and the best example for this is the latest EU summit that took place in October, during which the EU failed to start membership negotiations with North Macedonia and Albania, especially after the governments of both countries fulfilled all pre-required conditions. In order to retain the respect, we need to keep our word to these two countries and start membership talks as soon as possible,” Junker writes.
