Karakachanov: Bulgaria Does Not Give Up Demands on Macedonian Identity

The door to Macedonia is not closed, but Bulgaria does not intend to give up its demands. Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister Krasimir Karakachanov again in an interview with Bulgarian national television sends out series of provocations. He says Macedonia is the most tragic and romantic part of Bulgarian history and resolving the open issues between Skopje and Sofia is of strategic importance. Karakachanov says he conveyed the strong views on the identity of the Macedonians to the special mediator Vlado Buckovski during the meeting in Sofia last week. “We do not want them to give up their identity. We want something very simple, to be decent and admit that their identity was created, when the conditions were created and the country appeared in the time of communist Yugoslavia,” Karakachanov said in an interview with BNT.
