PM Dimitar Kovacevski believes that the formation of working groups by the ruling
parties and the opposition for processing the initiative for constitutional changes is the
best solution for the current stalemate situation, in which the opposition still refuses to
provide support for the adoption of the constitutional changes. “The meeting I had with
VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski provided a solid base for solutions, which I
am certain can be best done with through working groups of both parties. Mickoski set
some conditions, and I agreed for half of the positions of SDSM in the government to be
occupied by VMRO-DPMNE, and for DUI to leave the ruling majority. Even though, no
matter how much they claim to do something, we see that that is not the case, after their
sister-parties in the Bundestag didn’t support the resolution for support of our country.
However, we remain open for cooperation with them, because this is a process in which
all of us should make contributions, in favour of the prosperous future of our country,”
Kovacevski said. In the meantime, Justice Minister Krenar Lloga said that the
government is expected to adopt the initiative for constitutional changes at a session
scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
