The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevicius paid an official visit to Macedonia on Monday. Linkevicius had a meeting with the Speaker of the Macedonian Parliament Talat Xhaferi, with whom he exchanged opinions on the bilateral cooperation between Macedonia and Lithuania so far, focusing on their partnership on the integration in the EU as part of the Vilnius Group. PS Xhaferi informed Linkevicius that the Parliament of Macedonia proceed to play a key role in the integration of Macedonia in the EU right after the adoption of the Prespa Agreement. The Lithuanian FM said that compared to his previous visit of Macedonia, he now sees bright future for Macedonia. Both Xhaferi and Linkevicius said that they will support initiatives for greater cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries. The Lithuanian FM also had a meeting with his Macedonian counterpart Nikola Dimitrov, with whom he spoke about the adoption of the Prespa Agreement and the integration of Macedonia in NATO and EU. At a mutual press conference after the meeting, Linkevicius stated that Lithuania will be among the first countries that will sign the Protocol for accession of Macedonia in NATO.
