Macedonia has Done a lot, assesses Commissioner Hahn

Тhe EU’s Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn, says in an interview with Deutsche Welle that Macedonia has done a lot, adding that each country will be evaluated separately, on the basis of its progress and achievements. He doesn’t rule out the possibility of separating Macedonia and Albania on the EU road. In the interview, the Commissioner says that Macedonia has become the only country in the region that doesn’t have a conflict with any number. Asked whether it means that if some compromise isn’t achieved in Albania, Macedonia will be able to open negotiations, Hahn says: “Our stand has always been is that each separate process, that is, enlargement negotiations, are a process based on merits and achievements of each country separately. It will not be fair if one country should wait for another if it doesn’t deliver,” the Commissioner points out. The Commissioner points out that he will be trying until the last minute for the decision to start negotiations to reach the agenda of the European Council as soon as possible. “We’re not giving up,” he adds.
