Will the Judicial Council have credibility to clean up the judiciary if one of the body’s members is facing a crime charge? Justice Minister Bojan Maricic says the Council consists of individuals proven in their field that will be able to get the job done. He urged on Wednesday institutions to solve the case concerning Judge Zoran Teofilovski, the member of the Council who was recently charged with illegal privatisation of land. The Head of the EU Delegation, Ambassador David Geer, considers that it’s of exceptional importance for there to be quality work by prosecutor’s offices and courts because that is the only way to restore public trust in institutions. The judicial reform is part of Action 21. Its activities include monitoring of 50 court cases concerning high corruption every year, equipping courtrooms in order for online trials to be enabled, and digitisation of the process to issue court orders for application of special investigation measures.
