Mayor Arsovska with Initiative for Return of Kjoseto Statue

Skopje Mayor Danela Arsovska has submitted an initiative for a return of the Andon Lazov Janev – Kjoseto statue. As she said on Monday, the initiative has been submitted to the City of Skopje’s Council, with the new location being proposed being the crossroads between Aleksandar Makedonski and Belasica Boulevards, northeast of the roundabout.

“It’s about an exceptionally important historical figure and one of the greatest Macedonian revolutionaries,” Arsovska stated. According to her, the item should be put on the agenda and voted through as soon as possible.

In response, SDSM, however, said its Council members would oppose the proposal. “The statue was unlawfully erected by the regime, which is why it was removed,” the party noted.
