Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov held a video conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, discussing Macedonia and Bulgaria’s attempts to reconcile positions on misunderstandings. Borissov informed about the conversation with Merkel on his Facebook profile. “I thanked her for her personal commitment and that of the German presidency for searching formulas to enable the start of Macedonia’s EU membership negotiations. I believe that with the help of Germany, especially during its presidency of the EU Council, strong and correct decisions will be made,” Borissov wrote on FB. Bulgarian media reported that half a day after the ministerial meeting in Berlin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel had an online conversation with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov about Sofia’s remarks on the start of the Intergovernmental Conference. The conversation, as reported, lasted 40 minutes.
