Mijalkov Released, Then Returned to Prison

In less than 12 hours, former head of UBK was released from custody by the Appellate Court and then remanded in custody by the Basic Criminal Court at the request of the prosecution, but for another case. Mijalkov will remain in custody for at least another 30 days after the Basic Criminal Court in an urgent procedure accepted the proposal of the prosecution. The Appellate Court had previously allowed Mijalkov to be released on bail, accepting his bail of more than 11 million euros. The afternoon, the prosecution filed a request for a 30-day detention measure for Mijalkov, who is accused in the Plots on Vodno case. The Basic Criminal Court – Skopje then expressly accepted the proposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office. Justice Minister Bojan Maricic criticized the decision of the Appellate Court, assessing that it ‘reduces the already shaken trust of the citizens in the courts’.
