In an interview for Greek newspaper To Vima, Greek PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis says that he has done all in his power while in opposition to prevent the signing of the Prespa Agreement for resolution of the name dispute between Macedonia and Greece. “We are aware that this Agreement cannot be cancelled, which is why we intend to work on improving certain aspects which are bad for Greece. Therefore, my government supported the producers of Northern Greece to secure the Macedonian brand. The previous government did not do it. I met Zaev and said, “Look, I want good neighbourly relations, but I will not accept mistaken interpretations of identity issues related to Greece,” and I have always supported the need to keep the European path of the Western Balkans open,” Mitsotakis said.
